I’ve heard a great deal about you, Fa Mulan. You stole your father’s armor, ran away from home, impersonated a soldier, deceived your commanding officer, dishonored the Chinese Army, destroyed my palace, and… you have saved us all.
Ok: A few reasons why Osgood would make a perfect companion for the Doctor:
1) She has absolute faith in the Doctor. She has likely never met him before, but she is absolutely sure on multiple occasions that he will make everything better. She doesn’t question or wonder, she truly believes that the Doctor will save her.
2) She’s damned clever. She figures out within -seconds- of reporting the analysis of the stone dust why the statues were destroyed. Not only that but then she tries to save her colleague by -calmly- warning him, inspite of being obviously terrified, that they are in danger.
3) She was threatened, attacked, and generally abused by the Zygons, and yet still, when the Doctor’s memory loss trick was wearing off, she not only helped her Zygon twin whilst they were experiencing an asthma attack, but also kept the fact that they had established who was who a secret, because she knew how important the treaty being established around them was. Even after everything they put her through, she understood the Doctor’s plan, how important the treaty was, and displayed instant compassion at the sight of her attacker in distress.
4) Even though she’s painted as being ‘not conventionally pretty’ (rolls eyes) and is generally a stand up stereotypical ‘geek’, she kicks butt. Look at her with that scarf!
The Doctor needs someone like her. Someone he can’t talk down to, someone intelligent and sensitive, extremely brave, who can remind him not all human girls want to get into his boxer shorts, some of them just want to be good.
THESE PHOTOS ARE ALL OF ME, THE SAME PERSON.
If you think you’re too girly faced to pass properly I hope this goes to show you that you’re not.
You’ll fall into your true self quite easily, and eventually the strangers gazes will go away.
You just need time, confidence, and support (from the right people).
Before I transitioned I struggled with my femininity and masculinity.
Was I just a really boyish girl? Was I a butch lesbian?
My mother sure was proud having a girl like me, I wore cute oufits, was good at makeup, the whole nine yards. But the fact was I looked like a princess who was covered in mud who loved women, and hated girly things in general. But mom was happy I was this way, so I did it for her.
As time went on I realized I was transsexual, I attended therapy talked it out, and it was confirmed. Of course I confirmed it myself with a long (about a year) event of soul searching. Looking back on my childhood it was pretty obvious I looked uncomfortable in all of my photos as a girl. It looked wrong.
But don’t my more recent photos look genuinely happier?
Now I’m 18, on T, saving for surgery, out to my entire family (though not all are supportive), thanks to tumblr I MOVED OUT! and live with my fantastic long time partner. My only goal now is to save for top surgery. (If you’d like to help with this please visit: http://www.gofundme.com/445uro )
I hope this inspires you to truly be who you really are. I’m not a girl, I was merely given the wrong parts, but now I feel like the person on the outside, who i always was on the inside.
Also if you ever need to talk to someone, my ask box is ALWAYS open. Trans* or not!
